Those Who Save Us by Jenna BlumSo, this weekend while babysitting my neice and nephew I made the mistake of telling Easton and Molly that I was going to make cupcakes on Sunday. Molly walked around the house all night saying, "Cake." "Cake?" "Cake!" Easton was so excited that I invited him to join in the fun. All night he rehersed the following events.
"First I go to sleep...then I wake up and go to church...then I make cupcakes at Brecken's...have a party."

And so on and so on.
So at 2:00 on the dot--or at least as long as it took Easton to get home from church--we had a baking guest. Here is the result of our party!

Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's by John Elder RobisonAddie and Easton both like to play with the leaves off of the Bashore's irises. Easton pretends they are dinosaurs or alligators and this is what Addie does with them.
I love how she decided to roll the leaf up and roll it down Haylee's driveway. What a clever toy she discovered. See what can happen when she isn't glued to her DS or the TV? I actually wished I had a video camera to film it rolling down the driveway. It had the greatest spiral effect as it unraveled and rolled.
Or more accurately a hemaphrodite! Gary has been reproducing asexually. I am so glad that I remembered this little tidbit from college AFTER the eggs had hatched. That's right, we have snail babies at our house. GROSS! Remember my post about Gary digging and hiding in the dirt and needing a bath? He/She/It was burying eggs to be hatched in 3-4 weeks. Addie saw what she thought was a snail booger on the lid of Gary's tank. Ryan took a closer look and this is what he discovered....
Once we realized what it was and googled about snail reproduction, we discovered that snails can lay as many as 85 eggs at once. We immediately started counting. This little guy had crawled up through the air hole provided in Gary's tank. If he made it, how many others had escaped? I am ready to pour Morton Salt all over my kitchen counters and sink! We counted 10 originially, but one fell to an early death. Ryan dropped it off of a popsicle stick and accidentally stepped on it. EEW! Hope you aren't eating lunch while you read this post--he he! Addie is attached to the little critters and loves her pet's little offspring. Unfortunately, I think they are not going to survive our vacation to Disneyland next week. Wink! Wink!
Here he is! Our missionary uncle. Landon is home after serving an LDS Mission for 2 years in San Bernadino, California. We are all so happy to have him home. Addie and Saylor are particularly happy and have been begging to spend every waking hour at Grammy Donna's house so they can hang out with him. I think Addie is secretly waiting for him to break out the X-box. She also thinks she has a new air hockey competitor. Saylor still remembers the feeling she had at the "empty seats" (MTC) and is excited to go on a mission some day. It is fun to see him again after 2 whole years--he is skinnier--a lot skinnier--everyone keeps trying to feed him pizza and hamburgers to fatten him up a little--but he is still our same Landon. I am going to miss getting his weekly emails from the mission field. They were a fun little tidbit to look forward to on Wednesdays. They were a good mid-week reminder of what is really important--our family! Welcome home Landon. We love you and admire you for your hard work and devotion to serving our Heavenly Father.
